They will be sent bare-root, plant or pot them on arrival. You can trim the top back as desired if using them for future bonsai. I would grow them in a training pot or in the ground for a season or two so more roots can be developed and also a thicker trunk. Trident maple is a deciduous species that must be grown outdoors. They are hardy from zones 5-8 and very fast-growing. Some of mine have grown 3-5 feet in one season and they grow well into the fall. The trident is one of the most popular trees for bonsai. They develop a thick, textured trunk with a wide base at the soil line and exposed surface roots. The 3-lobed leaves are glossy and reduce well. Just “Google” the trident maple and you will see many fine examples. I will send an information sheet with the trees. The roots will be enclosed in a bag with moist packing. Shipping is included. Thanks for looking!
