Malta black,has 2 crops, is self fruitful ,has ornamental leaves,and does not require spraying of any kind. Fig trees are easy to grow and will produce fruits organically,where other fruit trees need a lot of fungicide and pesticide to do so. A fig tree,in 10 Gal.pot,will ripe,100 delicious fruit,,every year,even in the coldest parts of USA,if kept inside in the Winter,and placed,in full Sun, outside in the Spring.Out of 100+ cultivars,only about 20,produces delicious fruits,anywhere they are grown, the rest produces good ,edible fruits,in Mediterranean climates only,and barely edible,outside ideal climate.I have grown most of them, and Malta black, is part of those 20 Winners,here ,on east coast.
