It is also commonly known as the Nile Tulip or Trumpet for its funnel shaped yellow flowers, which appear in terminal clusters and whose throats have a maroon stripe. It is named for the illustrious explorer Sir Clements Robert Markham, who is responsible for the collection of Cinchona seeds from South America (subsequently enabling the English to treat malaria on a massive scale). The leaves can grow over a foot long, so it is no wonder why elephants prefer to snack on this plant. Suitable for outdoor planting in USDA plant hardiness zones 10 to 11 Minimum tested germination rate is 75%
